Can I Get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on my Kia?

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are the latest, and easiest, way for iPhone and Android users to integrate their smartphones and their vehicles. Many new vehicles, like the 2017 Kia Cadenza, come standard with both of these systems. But now we have great news! Many Kia models that were not previously available with these features may be able to upgrade to add compatibility. Many brand new Kia vehicles outfitted with the UVO infotainment and eServices suite come standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but many older models did not come standard with these advantages. Many Kia models are now eligible for an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto software update on their UVO system. They include:

  • 2017 Kia Forte
  • 2015 and 2016 Kia Optima and Optima Hybrid
  • 2015, 2015, 2016 Kia Soul
  • 2015 and 2016 Kia Soul EV
  • 2016 Kia Sorento
  • 2017 Kia Sportage

How Can I Get the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Update?

Kia owners were are already registered at www.myuvo.com will automatically receive an email with step-by-step instructions for getting this update sometime this month (July 2016). If you have not yet registered your new or pre-owned Kia vehicle, that should be the first step toward getting this update. Kia owners can also take advantage of other resources Kia offers online with the UVO infotainment system.

The software to integrate Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with eligible Kia vehicles will be available to download online and self-install (though you can certainly contact our Kia of Irvine service department if your are having trouble with your installation). We are excited to see even more of our great Kia vehicles offering these two smartphone compatibility features!
