During Thanksgiving and the holiday season, we often reflect on how fortunate we are. This is usually a good moment to acknowledge that there are those in our community that could use a little extra care this holiday season. Hope for the Holidays
Orange County Food Bank
As the holidays approach, Community Action Partnership of Orange County and the OC Food Bank are making sure that children, families, seniors, and veterans impacted by poverty are not forgotten this holiday season. You can help by providing a Thanksgiving turkey or hosting a food drive. Consider making a donation of $20 to purchase a turkey for a hungry family, or you can buy a “flock of turkeys” to feed more than one family. You can also host a food drive with your fellow employees, congregation, neighborhood, or group of friends. It can be either physical or virtual where you can donate online. Help a family in need this holiday with Hope for the Holidays.
American Family Housing
Thanksgiving Dinner 2016
On Thanksgiving day, with your help and the help of other volunteers and donors, American Family Housing will be hosting a Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless and those in need in the Orange County community. Their goal this year is to serve at least 1,000 dinners. The event will be held at the Westminster Community Center. Volunteers that are at least 16 years old can work a three or four hour shift between 8:00am to 5:00pm on November 24th, 2016. Be sure to sign up for your shift ahead of time. Sign up here and complete the volunteer agreement to bring with you when you show up for your shift that day.

8th Annual Thanksgiving Spectacular
The 8th Annual Thanksgiving Spectacular is a free yearly event which runs from 12:00pm to 5:30pm on Thanksgiving Day at Peppertree Park in Tustin. This event features a free Thanksgiving dinner for all members of the community. Attendees will be able to enjoy an unlimited dessert bar and beverage bar, a LEGO kids tent, live music, a live broadcast of the football game on a large projector screen, and a wide array of amenities including showers, haircuts, clothing, dog grooming, and more. This charity event was founded to make a positive difference in the world and to help those in need. This is an event where the whole community can come together and enjoy a Thanksgiving together.
