Washing and Waxing Tips and Required Supplies

Before you begin the process of washing and waxing your Kia vehicle, there are a few things that you should know. Always wash your car in the shade and when the engine is cool. Make sure to use cool water and detergent or soap that is designed for cars. Assemble your supplies prior to washing. Some key supplies include a bucket, detergent or soap, a water hose, soft sponges for washing, soft towels for drying, a wheel brush, and car wax.

Steps for Properly Washing and Waxing Your Kia Vehicle

Now that you have your supplies and your car is properly positioned for washing and waxing, let’s run through the steps!

Washing the Vehicle:

  • Step 1: Spray down the entire car with the water hose.
  • Step 2: Spray down the wheels and tires and clean this area with your wheel brush and soap before moving to the rest of the vehicle.
  • Step 3: Wash the car in small areas spreading from the top of the vehicle to bumpers while rinsing often to avoid soap drying on the vehicle.
  • Step 4: Dry the car with a soft towel using long sweeping motions that follow the contours of the vehicle.

Waxing the Vehicle:

  • Step 1: Wax immediately after the car has been hand dried from the wash.
  • Step 2: Wax the car in small areas moving from the top of the vehicle down to the lower portions using a soft and clean rag.
  • Step 3: After waxing one portion, wait a few minutes for the wax to dry and use a separate rag to polish off the dried wax before moving to the next portion of the vehicle.
