Kia Optima – Good Looks Inside and Out

The Kia Optima has been called handsome in the past, and some car reviewers have even dared refer to the car as sexy. This is not a common adjective for a family sedan. Inside, words like beautiful are used to describe its dash layout.

Looking at the Optima, it’s obvious that careful consideration went into the design of both the interior and exterior.

On the front, narrow headlights are outlined by a stripe of LED lighting. The combination, along with the narrow grille, gives the car a sporty appearance that hints at a fun, sporty ride. The hood is given shape to add character and styling, without seeming overdone.

At the back, taillights run the full length of the rear, and the slanted rear window evokes the fastback styling of sports cars from days gone by. A chrome strip along the top of the doors wraps around and under the rear window, accentuating the sportiness of the rear profile.

Inside, the car is just as impressive. The dashboard is a rich, deep black, with tasteful design touches. The instrument cluster is detailed but not overdone, and the wide 10.3-inch touchscreen panel provides access to the car’s control systems. Aside from a volume knob, the entire sound system is controlled by the touchscreen or buttons on the steering wheel.

The heating and cooling systems are also controlled entirely from the touch screen.

The lack of physical controls gives the dash area a clean and somewhat minimalist look. For those who prefer the tactile sensation of buttons and knobs, this screen-only approach may take some getting used to.

To keep your phone alive during the drive, the Optima includes a wireless charging pad. The center console is thoughtfully laid out, with several spots for storage of small items, like your phone.

For bigger items, the trunk is roomy, with enough room for full-size suitcases. Back inside, the sedan is roomy enough that adults in the rear seat will find it a comfortable ride. Although the car seats five, three adults in the back seat is a cozy fit.

Up front, there’s plenty of adjustability for the driver seat, and a leather seating option, along with heated seats, will provide for a comfortable driving experience.

For those snowy, icy winter roads, all-wheel drive allows for added peace of mind and driver control.

If a bit more power is required, a GT version offers a turbocharged motor capable of 290 horsepower.
