Looking for the perfect December date idea? Take your special someone out to one of the ice skating rinks in the Irvine area.
There’s nothing more classic than holding your significant other’s hand as you both glide along the ice. Even if you’ve never been out on the ice before, you’re going to love trying something new with your partner in crime, and who knows, you may even start a new yearly tradition together! We know that we won’t be able to list all of the ice rinks in the area, but we’re going to do our best to tell you about some of our favorites.

Lake Forest Ice Palace
Kicking off our list is the Lake Forest Ice Palace. Skaters of all ages and skill levels are always more than welcome at the Lake Forest Ice Palace. During the week, Public Skate runs from 12:15 pm until 2:45 pm, and on the weekends it’s open from 1:30 pm until 3:30 pm. You can even join in on one of the adult hockey leagues, or a pickup hockey game on Friday nights.
KHS Ice Arena
Over in Anaheim, the KHS Ice Arena has been providing interested community members with a fun, family-friendly place to skate for about 10 years. Admission is only $10 per person and just $3 to rent skates. On select Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year, admission is dropped to only $5 with a $3 rental charge. The KHS Ice Arena can also be rented for private skates and birthday parties.
The Rinks
With locations all around California, The Rinks offers public skating from 2:00 in the afternoon until 4:00 on most weeknights and from 7:00 until 10:00 on Saturday nights. Admission to The Rinks is $5 per person, and $5 to rent a pair of skates. Newer skaters will love the skate mates that provide a little extra help when on the ice.
No matter where you decide to skate, we know that you’re going to have a blast zooming around the ice at whatever speed is most comfortable for you. Just remember to dress a little warmer than usual, as it can be a bit chilly inside of an ice rink.
