2018 Kia Stinger Engine Specs and Performance Features

The 2018 Kia Stinger’s engine is a 2.0-liter twin-scroll turbocharged four-cylinder Theta II engine that produces 255 horsepower and can go from 0-60 mph in just 5.9 seconds for a compelling drive that is anything but ordinary. Those who want to get the blood pumping even more can opt for the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 Lambda II engine, which produces 365 horsepower and has more power than luxury rivals like the Audi S5 Sportback or the BMW 440i Gran Coupe.

Both engines come paired with a second-generation eight-speed rear-drive automatic transmission that features Kia’s first use of a Centrifugal Pendulum Absorber (CPA) torque converter to help reduce torsional vibrations through the drivetrain, making for a smooth drive no matter the speed. Paddle shifters are available on the steering wheel for those who want to be more control of the action, while five different shift patterns allow the driver to choose the mode that fits them best.

Will the 2018 Kia Stinger Come Available with All-Wheel Drive?

Kia Recognizes that not every driver lives in climate areas, that’s why the new Stinger has the option of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations. The AWD system in the Stinger features a new Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control system. This system monitors road conditions and driving habits to automatically apply power and braking force to the appropriate wheels when conditions become slippery or adverse. Rear-drive GT models get the benefit of an available multi-plate limited slip differential to help evenly distribute power through the rear wheels and enhance directional stability.
